Police FC has Aquired anew Home, IGP Cup in Progress

As this season’s Uganda Premier League draws near, Uganda Police FC have acquired a new home ground which is about to be completed.

Speaking to the reporters, AIGP Dr. Hadijjah Namutebi revealed that FUFA has Okayed the Stadium to host league matches after inspecting and finding in acceptable standard to host matches.

The newly constructed Stadium according to the AIGP has a seating capacity of 15,000 and is located along Kira Road just next to Kira Road Police station. This is formerly the Kataka playground .When asked to reveal the cost incurred by police she declined saying it is not yet complete that she will be able to tell the public after its completion.

Meanwhile the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Cup takes shape as draws for the quarterfinals conducted at Naguru Police Headquarters with the help of FUFA Competitions Director Isha Nalule today.

While officiating at the draws, Nalule urged the event organizers and participants to follow football rules if they want the competitions to be meaningful and attract the forces to participate in them always.

“Football is a highly regulated game; I therefore, implore you to strictly follow the rules and regulations if you are to have meaningful football competition. The major one is the Fair play and transparency rule which you people must follow strictly,’’ Nalule urged.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) who is in charge of Police Welfare Production and Sports Directorate, Dr. Namutebi who also over saw the draws said that the IGP tournament, which has Football and Netball competitions, is aimed at bringing the forces together, body fitness building, talent identification, and relation after the hectic days work.

“ Such games help us to unite with the masses and community policing becomes easy for the forces and this will in the long-run help to curb down criminal behaviors. They also help our forces to keep fit, relax, and build togetherness for harmonizing our work and help in talent identification for our different teams that compete in the national respective leagues.’’ AIGP Namutebi explained.

According to Dr. Namutebi, the quarterfinals and Semifinals will be played at Wakissa Stadium located in Wakiso District while the final game will take place at the newly constructed Police FC home ground at Old Kira road in Kamwokya.

The quarterfinals will commence on 16th, September, 2025 were Wandegeya Police FC will be tasling out with FFC Police, Anti Stock Safety Unit(ASTU) will play against Ntungamo Police FC, while Omoro Police FC will verse PTC Kabalye FC and Mbale City Police FC will also play against Buikwe Police FC.

The Netball fixtures were also drawn and teams will play as follows,

Kira vs Iganga

Mitooma vs Lira

PTC Kabalye vs Mbale City

ICT vs Omoro
