Over 1,300 delegates from Africa and the Arab world will convene at Munyonyo Speke Resort, Kampala from 6th to 10th October, 2025 to discuss challenges affecting the Youths in the member countries of the Afro-Arab Youth Council.
The Historical Gathering of Afro-Arab Youth Leaders dubbed as Youth Congress 2025, according to Dr. Abbas Agaba the Secretary General of the Afro-Arab Youth Council is aimed at fostering dialogue, innovation, and partnerships that will help tackle the shared challenges to unlock the vast potentials of Afro-Arab Youth.
While addressing reporters at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala Dr. Agaba asserted that the congress is ideal in the sense that Africa and the Arab world are a home to some of the youngest and most dynamic population globally yet very often, such people are left on the sidelines of decision-making.
“ This Congress is about changing how things are being done and bringing the youth at the centre of peace building, innovation, and sustainable development,’’ Dr. Agaba said.
He further said that this General Assembly is also aimed at strengthening governance and adopting new strategies and policies, which will forge a way forward for the future generation.
“The Afro-Arab Youth Congress is not just an event. It is a movement. A movement to unite young voices, bridge divides, and build a peaceful and prosperous future together.’’
Dr. Agaba retaliated his earlier submission on the immense benefits of the Congress to Uganda and Africa at large saying being the host of the Headquarters that is yet to be constructed will benefit in terms of education, sports and job creation because a Science University a modern Stadium will be constructed here.
The Congress that has attracted 800 young people drawn from all districts, NGO of Uganda, and 500 from other countries will run under the theme: “ Amplifying Youth Voices for Peace, Unity and Prosperity’’.
Other activities that shall be carried out during the congress is the launch of the fundraising drive for funds needed for the construction of infrastructures for the Headquarters and the University, a cultural night to celebrate our Afro*Arab heritage through music dance and drama festivals.
It is with great honor that I extend my warmest greetings to you all, and especially to the young leaders, delegates, and partners who have gathered for this year’s Afro-Arab Youth Congress.

This year’s congress is the first of its kind and stands as a powerful platform where the youth of Africa and the Arab world will come together to share ideas, celebrate their and our cultural diversity, and chart a common vision for peace, development, and sustainable progress.
The Minister for Presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda in a sentiment read to the media by the Afro-Arab Youth Council General Secretary said that the Congress is timely because Uganda is facing a huge challenge of Youth Unemployment , it will help change the mind set of young people who are a cornerstone of the country’s shared future whose creativity, energy, and vision are essential for building resilient societies and fostering prosperity for nations.
“Uganda is deeply honored to host this great gathering, for it is not only a reflection of our country’s hospitality but also a demonstration of our belief in the transformative power of young people.“ The statement reads in parts.
“As Minister for the Presidency, I wish to encourage all participants to take full advantage of this opportunity and engage actively in the discussions, build strong collaborations, and return to your respective communities as true ambassadors of unity and change’’.
