In an effort to improve service delivery and reduce unemployment, the government has planned to recruit 20,000 civil servants to fill the vacant positions in the public service sector.
These will be placed in newly established Seed Secondary Schools in the different sub-counties, Health Centre III, IV or General Hospitals following government allocation of UGX 195 billion in the FY 2025/2026.
The Minister of Public Service, Wilson Muruli Mukasa while addressing reporters at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala said that Local Governments and government Departments have up to 30th December, 2025 to seek clearance to recruit and this should be accompanied by a detailed wage performance analysis and staffing analysis as previously guided.
The Permanent Secretary Catherine Bitarakware Musingwiire said that the ministry through Civil Service College Uganda (CSCU) developed Mandatory training courses for Public Officers from entry level to strategic national leadership level aimed at enhancing their service delivery as well as curbing institutional inefficiencies and ensures that the services delivered are standardized.
The training is compulsory for all people entering Public Service for purposes of continuous professional development and it will now act as a path for Public Officers and a mandatory requirement for progression from one level to another.
