The Democratic Party have allowed a waiver to it’s Parliamentary incumbents in order to have coherent in the Party.
This was announced by the Party General Secretary who also doubles as EALA MP Dr. Gerald Siranda at Balintuma road based Party Headquarters in Kampala.
He said there will be no primaries in areas where the party has incumbents save for those were the seating MPs joined other parties. He even offered to take to them nomination forms.
While addressing Journalists in a weekly press conference Siranda revealed that the party will concentrate so much on parliamentary and local council elections.
“This time round we will concentrate very much on members of parliamentary and local council positions because we have over time discovered this is were th e ruling party beats the opposition.
The records indicate in 2021-2026 general elections 30 NRM members were un opposed and DP doesn’t want this to happen again.
Over 180 have so far expressed interest to contest on DP ticket and this exercise end on August 25th 2025 after an extension in a way of answering the party members outcry.
