People’s Front for Freedom Party (PFF) is saying opposition strong man Rtd Col Dr. Kiiza Besigye is just being persecuted for fighting to stop the family rule, what its leaders purportedly say President Museveni is trying to entrench in Uganda’s politics.
The Party’s Executive Chairperson Erias Lukwago while addressing the media at Katonga based party By offices alleges that there was a plot to assassinated Besigye at Riverside Apartments in Nairobi, Kenya where he was arrested but the plan failed because there were some other people who when killed with Besigye would cause more alarm.
As the former NRA Bush war fighter mark one year in jail, PFF on Monday 17, 2025 launched a one-week countrywide prayer drive seeking God’s intervention to allow the long-time strong opposition figure regain his freedom.
“Dr. Besigye is being winch-hunted for fight the impunity and political injustice entrenched by the National Resistance Movement regime,’’ Lukwago asserted.
He further said, “ this explains why even the though the law allows him to get court bail, courts have denied him justice.’’
“ Where can we run to seek justice if courts cannot ensure it’s Justices in High Court have failed to exercise their mandate to allow justice prevail. We petitioned East African Court of Justice to intervene but have not gotten a reply,’’ Lukwago said.
How Col. Besigye picked up?
Col. (Rtd) Besigye and political ally Hajj Obeid Lutale where arrested by plain closed Ugandan plain dressed security operatives from Riverside Drive Apartments in Nairobi, Kenya on November 17, 2025 and repatriated to Uganda.

Since then Besigye through his lawyers led by Karua a Kenya High Court Advocated and Erias Lukwago his new party chairperson applied for court bail several times but in vein.
His party members have now resorted to players and activism calling all other opposition political parties to increase agitating for the unconditional release of all political prisoners.
