Mayor Uhuru and Minister Kabanda bounce back as Kampala Central NRM top Leaders

Kampala Central National Resistance Movement (NRM) big wings have easily bounced back as unopposed in their respective positions in the party structure district elections that have been concluded today.

Mayor Salim Saad Uhuru a.k.a Nsubuga bounced back as Kampala Central Chairman while Minister for Kampala Minsa Kabanda won the General Secretary slot.

The election that has been well attended took place at Nakasero Primary schools were the different party committees like Youth, Elderly, Entrepreneurship league and People with Disability were renewed.

Maureen Tumusiime Kananura was elected as vice chairperson and Kantuwere won the Finance portfolio after his challenger Robert Kiwalabye stepped down.

Chairman elect, Uhuru said called on all elected leaders to put in all what it takes to see that NRM wins in Kampala Central come 2026 general elections. He re-affirmed that he will be vying for the party flag again to contest for the mayoral seat again.

Minister Kabanda also asked the voters to stand with her come the party primaries because she is intending to contest for the position of Kampala Central Member of Parliament.

Elsewhere polls didn’t go on well for instance in Sembalule the party Commissioner Ambassador James Kinobe was force to cancel the elections due to violence related activities. Minister Kawooya Bangirna who was contesting for the district chair person position nearly exchanged blows with her opponent RTD Gen. Phenansi  Kaitirima.

In Mukono the incumbent Twai Ssebaggala rejected the election results and vowed to petition to the electoral chairman challenging the outcome of the polls on grounds that the winner Harid Semakula connived with the returning officer and inflated the voters register  in addition to transporting people he called ‘Kiffesi ‘ who beat his supporters.
