Museven Launches Chan 2024

Government through Ministry of Education and Sports has launched the official logo, jersey and media channels for CHAN 2024 that is slated to commence on August 2, 2025.

The launch was officiated by President Museveni franked by first lady who also doubles as the minister of education Janet  Museveni at Kololo Independent ground on July 26, 2025.

“ This tournament symbolizes much more than just sport; it is a powerful vehicle for enhancing our global image and creating business opportunities as well as job opportunities.’’ Gen. Museven asserted.

“Since coming into power, we have established peace and expanded education. Now, stadiums are being built, and sports have been boosted. I am pleased with our readiness to host the tournament. CHAN has challenged us in a positive way to act, and we embrace this pressure.’’ He stressed.

He further said, “as co-hosts with Kenya and Tanzania, our joint bid represents a significant step towards regional cohesion and the unity of East Africa. ‘’

For the youth, the President noted, sports are a productive outlet, steering them away from negative influences and into purposeful engagement. He praised the East African Community (EAC)’s joint bid to host CHAN-2024, calling it a significant step towards regional brotherhood.

The tournament that will entertain 9 countries with players playing in the their respective local leagues, is the 8th edition and Uganda has been participating in all but has never emerged out of the group stages.
