Real drama as political parties takes trucks and pick-ups full of files with supporters’ signatures at Electoral commission on Friday 12th September.

The NRM Secretary General Richard Tadwong while addressing journalist shortly after handing in the forms to the EC registrars said that he brought 2.5m signatures while Robert Centenary FDC’S acting Secretary General also said he submitted in 1.5 m signatures and at was upon EC take the required numbers.

Centenary however said that some people were registered as voters but when you use the link that was given by EC you find when they are not in the system and that prompted him to bring as many as he could.

“ Am a registered voter and I have been an MP from Kasese for two terms but I was surprised to find my name missing when I checked using my computer but when I complained to EC officials used their tab and was able to find my name on the register,’’ Centenary said.

“ Not everybody in the country can afford to have a Tab, the Electoral Commission should ensure that the system is effective and transparent to avoid doubts of irregularities during voting.’’

NRM Electoral Commission boss Dr. Tanga Odoi, described the act as an indication of strong support for the incumbent Gen. Yoweri K. Museveni.

“These are not just signatures but real votes. We have brought these but they will translate into more millions of vote in 2026,’’ Dr. Tanga bragged

President Museveni, who has been at the helm of Uganda’s leadership since ceasing power in 1986 will be seeking re-election in 2026 carrying the NRM flag.

The Electoral Commission will be verifying the submitted signatures to confirm eligibility and compliance with the nomination requirements there after candidates will be given a go ahead to pay the nomination fees of UGX 20,000,000 before nomination takes place which will take place between September 23rd and 24th
