He said that real nomination will run from 17th to 30th June, 2025 during week days only and aspirants are required to appear in person with two supporters who will help to nominate and second the candidate.
Nominations for members of parliamentary, LC V, Lord Mayor and City Mayors’ aspirants will take place at the party electoral commission, Kyadondo road plot 10, whereas, Municipal, Divisions and district councillors will take place at the respective districts.
This time round unlike in the past, the aspirants will have to prove that they have never been involved and in any way convicted for criminal acts for the past period of 10 years.
“ We will involve intelligence organs in the country, Uganda National examination board and Uganda Revenue Authority and other government bodies to get information regarding criminality of aspirants because we don’t want any of our candidate to be eliminated on that ground.’’ Dr. Tanga explained.
Other nomination requirements include, possession of National ID, one be registered both in the NRM party yellow book and in the National Register, should also be a Ugandan who is above 18 years.
The ruling party electoral commission boss made the revelation while addressing reporters at his office along Kyadondo road in Kampala today.
Dr. Tanga also revealed that the exercise helped to collect over UGX 6 billion which will be used to facilitate those who will win the flag. He however said that this money isn’t enough to cater for the whole exercise.
“We collected over UGX 6 billion in the expression of interest exercise but this money isn’t sufficient to facilitate our party flag bearers. We actually need more than this but we shall use the available resource envelop.” Dr. Tanga said.
He also said that the party flag bearers will be given money for the National Electoral commission nomination fees as well as campaign facilitation. Each constituency aspirant will get UGX 50 million while women contesting for district Member of Parliament will be facilitated with 60 million each.
According to the party’s electoral road map, members who are interested in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) positions will start picking nomination forms from June 26th up to 1st July, 2025. While primaries elections for special interest group committee at parish level will take place on 20th June, 2025.
Those who wish to vy for the position of chairperson will part away with non-refundable fees of UGX 20 million, Vice chairman 10m regional vice chairmen 5m while National league heads will pay 1m.
Meanwhile the Speaker of Parliament passed through unopposed after her would be rival was disqualified on grounds of lack of permanent residence in Budedea District despite have bought land in the area.
