As the Ruling NRM Party Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections draws near, the Eastern Regional Incumbent Vice Chairman Dr. George Michael Mukula has Urged Party members to work for unity, vote for Unity and Merit-Based Leadership.
In a passionate appeal to NRM supporters in the Teso sub-region, Dr. Mukula emphasized the need for unity and political maturity based on the party’s core value of internal democracy. The Veteran Politician who also doubles as a professional Pilot made the remarks while soliciting for votes from Eastern Region, Soroti and Serere districts NRM supporters on Thursday.
“We are only candidates of the National Resistance Movement, not individuals,” Dr. Mukula said. “The party is bigger than all of us. Let’s unite as a party and build a strong foundation that will last for decades and decades.”

In this Teso sub-region gathering, Dr. Mukula also cautioned against the commercialization of politics. “They have commercialized elections, and I have written to the President about it,” he revealed. “When it comes to campaigns, everyone wants money. Where do we get this money from?”
The NRM leader urged voters to prioritize merit and experience when electing leaders, rather than being swayed by excitement or wealth. “I would have requested my brother Ehodu Cavin to start small,” he said. “The Baganda have a saying, ‘akwata empola attuka wala’ – pole pole in Kiswahili, learn the ethics of the National Resistance Movement first.”
Dr. Mukula’s call for unity and merit-based leadership resonated with the crowd, who recognized the importance of building a strong and sustainable party structure. As the NRM prepares for upcoming CEC elections, Dr. Mukula’s message serves as a timely reminder of the party’s core values and the need for leaders who prioritize the party’s interests above personal gain
