Makidye East NUP aspirants have vehemently rejected of imposition candidates on them from other constituencies.
This follows social media leaked information indicating that Mayor Muhammed Kasirye Nganda commonly known as Mulyanyama declaring to shift from Makindye West to East as a member of parliament aspirant.
Kayondo By James Wampamba one of the five NUP aspirants while addressing journalist said that they will not allow a person from any other constituency to contest in Makindye East on NUP flag because they have already their vetting has gone about 60% , besides that, they have committed allot of resources .
“My party has core values which include among others, integrity, Honest, Reliability Discipline and Inclusiveness, now if Mulyanyam changes from what he had asked to vy for that he is not following the core values of the party which as members stand to protect.’’ Kayondo said.
“ It’s against the law you can’t contest in an area where you don’t reside if the party gives him the flag we will invoke the law to fight such inconsistence.
When contacted via phone, Mulyanyama sounded jokingly saying he doesn’t the people who are making allegations on him and he can’t respond on such.
He went ahead to demine and monk them for acting as a group wondering whether even in Parliament they will go there as a group.
“ It’s unfortunate for our leaders if they go buy social media information they even go ahead to address a press conference, in the first instance I don’t such people but I will get time and pass in the constituency and check on the posters.
Last week the incumbent Makindye East MP Derrick Nyeko on via his social media said that he will not contest again on NUP ticket citing uncertainty on his chances of retaining the flag.
According to the party’s schedule, the second and final part of the vetting exercise will commence on Tuesday 8th , Septeber,2025 and this will determine who will finally carry the flag for the different constituencies.
