Over 350 Ugandans Flooded Ministry of Internal Affairs Seeking Intervention

Over 350 Citizens flooded Ministry of Internal Affairs asking it to hunt for Christian Asiimwe 32 a.k.a Don Chris an alleged fraudster who conned them money worth more than UGX 4 billion in disguise of connecting them to jobs in Canada, United Kingdom and Luxemburg.

According to Emigration Public Relations Officer Mr. Simon Peter Mundeyi, Don left Uganda on June 20th, 2025 through Maraba boarder point to Kenya to enroot to unknown destination.

“ Over 200 people reported that they were asked to pay between UGX 5-20 millions depending on the type of job and from which country one applied to work from,’’ Mr. Mundeyi said

He further revealed that some even left their job in Middle East to come and apply for what they thought were better paying jobs, while others sold off their properties to ensure that they raise the money, other acquired bank loans.

Mundeyi said, preliminary findings indicate that Don owned a tour company called Sky pin and was dully registered but was not mandated by the ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development to recruit citizens for jobs abroad.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs mouth piece also said that online information indicate that at least seven Ugandans had travelled to Netherlands through Sky Pin.

He called on Don to come back in the country and explain himself such that his side can be hard and find a way of refunding the money to the victims.

In 2023, 300 victims lodged  a complaint at different police stations in Kampala Metropolitan for allegedly been conned by a one Micheal Karugire of more than UGX 800 million in disguise of finding them lucrative jobs abroad.

Karugire just like Don Chris also owned a company called Qadar Recruitment Agency and was  based in Kabuusu Lubaga Division after collect over UGX 800 M he vanished . Police CID commenced investigation into the matter and up to now no report about his arrest have come out.
