Police is hunting MP Nambooze for her Inciting Utterances against Police Institution

Police post pond arrest Mukono Municipality legislator Betty Nambooze Bakireke for allegedly uttering what is described as inciting the public to attack and disarm police and other sister security agencies while addressing a political gathering in her constituency.

According to the police spokesperson, ACP Rusoke Kituuma, Nambooze has a case to answer. Still, he said the police can’t arrest her because it would appear as if she is being witch-hunted due to the timing of the political season.

While addressing reporters in the security weekly Police briefing, Kituuma said that the Police will arrest her at an appropriate time and charge her for inciting violence against police men.

“It’s unfortunate if such a person who is a legislator is inciting the public to disarm police, yet the institution’s mandate is to keep law and order, which laws she is part of enacting,’’ Kituuma reacted.

In a video which was telecast, Nambooze, during the press conference, Nambooze was had saying that the security forces are few in numbers, yet the civilians outnumber them combined, and they should turn against them in case they continue beating and exercising violent acts against the unarmed people. She  even went ahead to mention the total number of Police forces, saying they are only 50,000, and UPDF makes only 40,000, comparing the joint total to the country’s population, saying that the public is outnumbering them and can turn against the security forces.

Kituuma also warned the public against Nambooze’s subversive utterances, “ She goes to parliament almost every day, let her first try to disarm those who are guarding parliament if she thinks it’s joking  matter. Instead of misleading the public, she should try it herself, and we will see what happens to her.

“ Such reckless statements are unacceptable, contradictory, and irresponsible, and I assure her that the Police will act at an appropriate time to ensure that Nambooze is brought to book for her inciting statements.’’

However, efforts to get comments from Hon . Betty Nambooze were futile as  she was not picking up her known mobile telephone number
