Police owns the two guns that were being used by robbers in terrorizing greater Masaka and caused loss of lives and money recently.
This follows last week’s incidence were armed robbers attacked and robbed Mazima Bugagga Coffee Factory manager Andrew Kaggwa of Ugx 50 m at the factory offices located in Kifuta Village, Kabira Sub-county , Kyotera District.
Its alleged that Kagwa had just withdrawn the money from the bank in Kyotera town and the robbers followed him up to his office from where they robbed him.
The force’s spokesperson AC Rusoke Kituuma while addressing reporters at Naguru Police headquarters admitted that indeed the two guns that have been used to terrorize greater Masaka of recent were stolen from police officers recently.

He however revealed that the police officers from whom the guns were stolen have since been charged with negligence and remanded to Luzira prison pending hearing of their cases.
“ We own the recovered guns and I want to make it clear that they were stolen from our constables but not from our weapon Armory.’’ Rusoke stated.
He further said that the loss of guns happens and the public are also called upon to help police in the recovery process because when errant individuals steal them it’s the public who suffers a lot through terrorist acts by errant individuals who use them in robbery acts.
Meanwhile, a group of Bodaboda riders helped Police to arrest Machete welding men who ridded Mukono while moving on motor cycle registration no. UGG 597Y terrorizing and robbing however they came across along their way.
According to Rusoke ,the Bodboda riders at Nabweru stage in Goma Division, Mukono District became vigilant when they saw people moving with a pangs they began following them while alerting police which swung into action to pursue the robbers.
The robbers started from Nabweru in Goma Division also terrorized other areas like Kyaliwajala, Sonde, and proceeded to Seeta town and Namanve Industrial Park. The suspects arrested are identified as Asiimwe Steven, 26, Musinga Musa, 22, and Nsubuga, while three smart phones, 3 pangs a motor cycle they were travelling on have been recovered.
Rusoke also said that Nsubuga was shot in the whist and leg during the arrest scuff because he was trying to cut police constables and he has since been hospitalized nursing wounds.
“ I commend the bodaboda riders for being vigilant and helping police to arrest criminals. Pursuing by civilians is lawful but they shouldn’t act like court to give punishments,’’ He asserted.
He further urged that the public should always cooperate with security agencies in order to eliminate terrorism and other forms of criminal acts from the country.
