As Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) end registration of Candidates, the numbers of candidates at all examination levels have increased by 6.9%(97,168).
This was revealed by Board’s Principal Communications Officer Jennifer Kalule Musamba in an exclusive interview at her office today.
She said an overall total of 1,416,307 candidates have been registered for PLE, UCE and UACE levels but these are still provisional figures pending cleaning to remove errors and they may either slightly increase or reduce.
Of the overall total, PLE accounts for 817, 987 were 522,102 are UPE and 295,885 are Non- UPE while 431,856 registered to sit UCE and 166,464 are for UACE.
“We call upon schools to upload continuous Assessment results for Candidates for S3 and S4 up to second term to allow the system accept the candidate’s name,” Kalule said.
She stressed that no candidate will be allowed to do final examinations without this Continuous Assessment results because the contribute to the overall UNEB final results as per the new curriculum.
There’s a significant increase at advanced level of recent since Covid-19 period, from less than 100,000 candidates to now 166,564 candidates and the examination body’ s communication officer attributes this to the improvement in the education systems.
Kalule also urged especially PLE candidates and their parents to endeavor check on the displayed registers on their respective schools’ notice boards so as to be able to find out errors made say in gender, name, and photos to help UNEB correct them to avoid inconsistency in the pass-slips.
“As we do registration of Candidates errors are normally made for instance their names like Kisakye for both gender now the photos may be erroneously interchange, even names. This why we emphasis the displaying of registers on schools’ notice boards.” Kalule asserted.
This error made when not detected and rectified specifically from the PLE it will continue up to other levels of education and cause the holder of UNEB document problems.
