Cranes have not yet Received Winning Bonuses, 3,000 Fake tickets sold

Although President Museveni pledged to give Uganda Cranes a match-winning bonus of UGX 1.2 billion per match, the players are yet to receive it.

Cranes have so far won two matches and this imply that they have accumulated UGX 2.4  billion in bonus allowances  which they will receive courtesy of President Museveni.

The Uganda cranes comfortably edged Guinea 3-0 and Niger 2-0 making them group D leaders enhancing their chances of qualifying to the quarterfinals for the first time since the inception of the CHAN tournament in 2012.

Uganda cranes will be playing their last group game on Monday 19th August, 2025 still at Nambole Stadium while the other group match will be hosted in Nyayo Stadium in Kenya at the same time to for purposes of avoiding syndicate.

While addressing reporters on the update of CHAN, the spokesperson of the tournament Dr. Daniel Mugimbi confirmed the lads have not received their bonuses but sounded optimistic that they will receive it.

“The Organizing committee is not responsible for the cranes bonuses but if asked for the advice on how to distribute it to the beneficiaries, we think it would be better for State House disburse the money directly to their bank accounts,” Dr. Mugimba said.

Regarding tickets Dr. Mugimba warned fans not to get tempted to print fake or duplicate tickets because CAF has a robust system that detect such irregularities.

He also revealed that fans presented 3,000 fake physical tickets during the first match, which left the holders stranded and sent a way by security.

“CAF is solely in charge of tickets and they can only be accessed on-line on its website.. I therefore warn fans to avoid being cheated through buying physical tickets because they are not there.” Dr Mugimba warned.

He also said that the committee is not responsible for cranes accommodation, that it is FUFA who agreed with CAF to have Cranes accommodated at FUFA hotel. According to Dr. Mugimba government paid to CAF USD 12 million as commitment fees and the confederation to initiative to cater  for everything including entering into contracts with management of hotels that are accommodating players.

 Over 102,000 fans have watched cranes matches, an average of 34,000 per match.
