Job applicants attending the ongoing public service commission interviews and exams at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, located in Kira Municipality of Wakiso District, have been cautioned against being over-ambitious while performing their state duties as Civil Servants.

Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, echoed the message to job applicants during her fact- finding visit to the interviews and exams venue at Namboole stadium on Wednesday.

She cautioned job applicants against wishful-dreaming habits of driving expensive cars and building posh houses upon getting into public service. She said public service is about serving humanity and the nation.

“Anyone that thinks along the line of getting rich quickly while in public service should consider joining other sectors”, she said.

Ms. Nakyobe also cautioned job applicants against forming pressure groups to demand for pay rise, while having served in public service for a short duration; such as for a two- year period.

Ms. Winnie Agnes Kabogoza Musoke, the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, reiterated the need for new entrants into Public Service to observe professional ethics like integrity, smartness in dress attire and meritocracy among others.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) recently launched its 2025 Graduate Recruitment exercise to give opportunities for fresh graduates to join public service.

Ms. Musoke, while addressing media during the launch, said the program is part of the commission’s drive to attract qualified young professionals into government institutions.

She added that; the Internal Advert (Graduate Recruitment Exercise) No. 1/2025, which ran from June 23 to July 21, 2025, attracted an overwhelming 81,873 applicants competing for 277 vacancies across 18 Government entities.

Ms.Musoke said the Public Service Commission is dedicated to building a competent, motivated, and accountable public service workforce. She emphasized that the 2025 recruitment exercise is a vital step in shaping Uganda’s future human resource base.
