By George Bukenya

National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate for 2026 general elections Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, a.k.a  Bobi Wine, commenced his campaign trail in Buganda region with a strong message against land grabbing, unemployment, and political hypocrisy as he addressed supporters in Mityana District.

This followed a scuffle with security forces enrouting toBusunju Sub-County along Hoima Road having been denied a chance to take the Mubende-Fort portal road to connect to Mityana Main Town.

He jumped on Bodaboda to beat police road blocks and reached Busunju Town where he briefly talked to his supporter and continued to Mityana Town taking Sekanyonyo road to connect to Busubizi where his main rally took place in the Afternoon.

“I will fight against the rampant land grabbing in the country and also create employment opportunities  which will be given on merit,” Kyagulanyi vowed.

“Our citizens have suffered enough. We want a Uganda where land belongs to its rightful owners, the nationals, not a few connected individuals.”

Kyagulanyi  also vowed to tackle unemployment, saying it was shameful that many Ugandans, especially in Buganda, were forced to seek work abroad under difficult conditions even with their diplomas and degrees

“I will ensure that people, especially in Buganda with qualifications get decent jobs,” Kyagulanyi stressed.

“Why is it that our sisters and brothers from Buganda are always seen going to the Middle East to work? We are tired of such. Uganda must provide for its own people.”

His campaign message mainly focused on restoring dignity, fighting corruption, and creating opportunities for young people, whom he described as “the engine of change.”

The former Singer and lesglator also spoke about loyalty to the party, emphasizing that the National Unity Platform (NUP) would not make the mistake of giving party cards to individuals who do not deserve them.

“We are not foolish to give cards to people who don’t stand for our values,” Kyagulanyi said.

“For the first time, you’ve seen many people from the same region as I am starting political parties all with one goal: to fight Kyagulanyi.”
