As parliamentary candidates prepare to commence campaigns on November 10, 2025, police has called on all aspirants to work closely with security agencies to ensure peaceful and orderly campaign activities.
The Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma urges that coordination between candidates and security forces is important as far as preventing violence, easing tension, and maintaining public order during the campaign period is concerned.
He made the advise while addressing reporters in a weekly security briefing at Naguru based Police Headquarters today. He also retaliated that the police force are ready to provide security support in all areas where campaigns shall be held, asking all candidates to share their respective schedules in prior with area security teams.
“ We call upon all aspirants to cooperate with security agencies especially police in their respective places. This will help both us and the candidates to plan well and ensure smooth and peaceful campaigns,’’ Kituuma said.
He further cautioned that police will not hesitate to act against anyone found violating electoral laws or engaging in acts that could incite violence.
Last week, the Electoral Commission revealed, November 10, 2025, as the official commencement date for parliamentary campaigns ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The country got engulfed in crashes between rival supporters and poor coordination with security in the previous election cycles, something that led to cases of violence leading to even loss of lives to a few individuals. According to Kituuma, Police this time round is determined to prevent the vice.
