The Government resumes recruitment of public servants in its different Agencies, Departments, and Ministries, targeting over 6,000 workers.
Speaking to journalists on November 11th, 2025, during a press conference at the Uganda Media Centre, the Minister of Public Service, Wilson Muruli Mukasa, announced that the Ministry of Public Service has issued recruitment clearances for numerous MDAs, signalling the green light for hiring in critical sectors including health, education, agriculture, security, and administrative services.
“This is a massive recruitment exercise aimed at filling long standing vacancies that have affected service delivery, we have prioritized positions that directly impact Ugandans’ lives and contribute to national development goals,” Mukasa declared.
He however warned the responsible officials to desist from selling the jobs and urged the public to be vigilant and report such acts of corruption to curb the vice.
“ In an effort to curb down corruption tendencies in the recruitment exercise, we are employing technology for instance in issuing of confirmation letters its now done electronically,“ the Minister stated.
According to the permanent secretary Bitarakwate, the recruitment follows extensive consultations and budget approvals, with the Public Service Commission (PSC) tasked with managing a transparent and merit based selection process.
Applicants will use the PSC’s online e-recruitment portal, with detailed job advertisements expected to be published in national newspapers and on official government websites.
However, he issued a strong warning to Ugandans against paying money to anyone promising to secure government jobs, reiterating that all applications for public service positions are completely free of charge. Muruli emphasized that the entire process from submission of applications to interviews is provided at no cost to applicants.
“Let me be very clear: applying for any government job is FREE. Do not give even a single shilling to anyone claiming they can help you get a job,” Mukasa stated.
The minister’s warning comes as thousands of vacancies are set to be advertised in the coming days, sparking excitement among job seekers but also raising concerns about con artists exploiting desperate applicants.
The Uganda Public Service Commission (PSC) earlier this year advertised 245 vacancies under General Recruitment Exercise (GRE) 1/2025, spanning roles in legal, engineering, economics, ICT, human resource management, environmental science, agriculture, and more.
