Kasese Catholic Diocese Needs 4.5 billion for Martyrs Day Celebrations

Kasese Catholic Diocese launch fundraising drive for the 2026 Namugongo Martyrs Pilgrimage with a dinner hosted at Shelton Hotel in Kampala.

Bishop Francis .A Kibira officiated at the Wednesday, 3 December, 2025 launch and he said that a team from Germany has already requested him to allow them participate in the liturgy through singing while he also invited the diocese of…. from neighboring Dr. Congo.

Rev. Fr. John Baptized Kule the chairperson organizing committee for the celebration said that a budget of UGX 4.5 billion is earmarked and was expecting as usual for government to foot half of this expected cost because its Namugongo martyrs day celebrations is regarded as a state function while the rest of the portion will be raised from well wishers.

He also revealed that the committee is expected to rise about UGX 250M from dinner as the fundraising drive is being launched.

The managing Director of Centenary Bank Fabian Kasi announced his company’s contribution of UGX 70 M and said that the bank will also help in printing of the magazine.

Centenary bank as a chief sponsor of the event also avenues for which well wishers will donate for the celebrations and they will use a/c no. 3100117442 in the name of Kasese Namugongo pilgrimage 2026, via mobile money one will do donate will place *211# then take  option 7, then code 1020, the confirm Kasese Diocese Namugongo Pilgrimage.

Kasese Diocese led the annual celebrations 20 years back and the bishop said that diocesans are in high moods because of the time lag that have elapsed although we still have months to next year’s pilgrimage.
