As preparations for Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 continue to take centre stage, the local organising committee call local service providers who wish to render their services to register with committee.
The Chairman of the committee Dr. Dennis Mugimba made the announcement while giving an update on were the preparations have reached so far at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala on July 22nd, 2026.
He said registration commenced on July 1st and will close at the end of the same months but he said the committee may not or may extend the period depending on prevailing situation, selection of qualified companies will start in September and end in October, 2026.
” All businesses that have the capacity to render services ought to register with the local organising committee via the link afcon. pamoja.ug which is the link for local tenders and Supply,” Dr. Mugimba said.
The services include but not limited to, foods and beverages, transport, media and communication, billboards, medical fan zone Parks and Information Technology Communications.
However any local company or organisation wishing to render any service must be registered with the Uganda Registration Services Beareua
(URSB) and Public Procurement and Disposal of Fixed Assets (PPDA).
“The ticketing and television broadcast is a preserve of Confederation of Africa Football(CAF) and those companies wishing to render such services shall apply to the continent football governing body athough the body will inquiry about the best pricing from local Pamoja respective Federations,” he clarified.
Mugimba also gave an update on the infrastructures development and on this he revealed that Hoima Stadium Uganda’s second host facility is 95% complete and mid August 2026 it will be 100% finished, while the standby Akibua stadium located in Lira town has reached 72% and is also nearing completion because the procurement of the roofing materials is done and roofing won’t take too much time.
The continental football governing body requires the host nation to have at least six standard studia and according to Dr. Mugimba, the Pamoja nations have gotten seven, were three are in Uganda whereas Kenya and Tanzania has two each. The construction of some standard training facilities is ongoing while for others is yet to commence
Meanwhile the AFCON local organising committee has eleven fan zones where AFCON will be telecast live and these include all demarcation cities and Kampala Divisions as well as Moroto Municipality.
