Chaos in Kampala Central Division amidst heavy military deployment in most of the villages during LCI elections causes election abortion in some villages.
In Kasaato zone, Kisenyi Parish elections where abandoned as residents questioned the electoral commission polling assistant the register he was using because most of the people he was reading where neither residents nor working in the area thus causing chaos forcing military police to shoot in the air in order to disperse the highly charged crowd.
There was also drama in Shauriyako B Village as the electoral commission presiding officer counted the voter. He first counted for independent Kalungi Yusufu commonly kwon as Munubi who polled 315 votes after he counted for National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate, Lukyamuzi Ken who secured 220 votes.
Lukyamuzi’s voters began jubilating immediately the presiding officer finished counting their votes throwing him up in the air; the voters of Kalungi also did the same causing confusion and chaos.
This force police to whisk the electoral commission officer as a way of protecting him from the angry voters who would harm him. It took like 40 minutes for the situation to normalize and police returned with on a motor cycle and he announced independent, Kalungi as the winner with 315 voted.
Before counting started the eventual winner looking at the line was trailing NUP’s candidate by a few people on the line but the incumbent Muwonge Bashir who looked to be getting the third position basing on voters behind him. He threw in the towel and almost all his voters went behind Kalungi which made NUP’S supporters to coil.
In Shauriyako B Village there were six candidates however the major contest was between NUP’s candidate and independent, others include, Roy Nantege (NRM), Badru Mukasa and Sam Muyomba both independents.
In Kagugube Parish Sebadduka Darwin, and Muyeya Mukasa both bounced back for Kitamanyangamba and Kagugube villages respectively.
