The independent Presidential Advisor on Trade, Dr. Jim Tubuhaburwa, explains what he Uganda is yet to achieve in his visit in various European countries. “I recently visited ay manufacturing plant producing a wide range of farm implements. Following our discussions and advice, the company is now willing to explore bringing its production operations to Uganda and manufacturing farm implements using locally available Ugandan materials”, he said.
“This is a major opportunity for Uganda: local manufacturing, local materials, local jobs, and affordable farm equipment for our farmers. To H.E. the President of Uganda and our policymakers: let us support investments that move Uganda from importing agricultural machinery to manufacturing the tools our farmers need right here at home”, he said.
“To our farmers: this could mean better access to affordable, durable and locally made farm implements—designed with Uganda’s agricultural needs in mind. Let us turn Uganda’s raw materials into agricultural tools, create jobs for our young people, empower our farmers, and strengthen food production.Uganda should not only feed Africa; Uganda can manufacture the tools that help Africa feed itself” he added.
