Governent to Arrest and Prosecute individuals who Deliberately Fail to Honor National Cleaning Day- PM Nabbanja

Uganda’s Vice President HE Rt. Maj. Jesca Alupo argued the public to change their mindset on waste management and make it useful in their day today lives 

She made the remarks while launching the National Cleaning Day II at Kyaliwajala in Kira 

Municipality, Wakiso District on 29th August 2026.

”Proper waste management isn’t a sole government responsibility but it should be a collective effort for every citizen,” HE said.

She further argued, “it should be a norm and culture for very living person to ensure that every environment she/ he is living in is clean 24/7.”

The Vice President also advised players in the private sector who deal in waste management to acquire modern technology through buying modern vehicles that are able to process garbage before leaving the generation point.

The Prime Minister Rt. Hon Robina Nabbanja said in an effort to enhance waste management, government will borrow a leaf from other countries like Italy were garbage is properly managed

She said that in such countries waste is managed well to the extent that by law people are required to separate waste after each category is 

made useful through recycling.

” There’s a need to change the mindset of individuals in Uganda such that they can appreciate waste as a useful resource for instance decomposing waste can be turned into organic fertilisers to improve soil fertility,” Rt.Hon. Nabbanja explained.

She cautioned the masses to stop dumping waste into drainage channels,wetlands and on roads for thy risk being arrested and imprisoned.

Meanwhile government star arresting and producing to court all individuals who deliberately fail to honor the National Cleaning Day according to Prime Minister Nabbanja.
