Kampala, Uganda—Kira Municipality Member of Parliament George Musisi through his lawyers ask court to dismiss the election case where National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates in the 2026 general elections Daniel Kananura challenges his victory.
Lead council Luyimbazi Nalukoola maintained that the case has no merit and asked court to dismiss the petition and also order the plaintiff to pay for the costs incurred.
“ We asked court to dismiss Kananura’s petition because it has no merit, besides that he was ranked four in the 2026 Kira Municipality General elections where the first and second runners-up accepted the defeat. We are also wondering where this person gets the guts to challenge Musisi’s victory,’’ Nalukoola said.
He further said, “ we asked court to declare that Musisi George is the right member of Parliament for Kira Municipality and order Kananura to pay for the costs incurred in the process.’’
Wakiso High Court seating in Nansana Division George Okello adjourned court to Wednesday 14, October, 2026 when he will be giving his judgement.
After the court hearing, Kananura said that he wants to withdraw the case having realised that he lacked enough evidence to succeed with the case, citing also financial constraints which doesn’t enable him to pursue the case to its logical conclusion.
