Months even after loosing the Speakership contest, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Norbert Mao is still adding insult to injury of the former Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among whom he said abused power which generated her current problems.
While speaking to the reporters his weekly press briefing at the DP Party headquarters, Mao argued that the AAA had created a powerful poor center to the extent of influencing who seats at the electoral commission as commissioner and other high ranking offices.
Among caused her own trouble she has no one to blame, she created power of influence and because of her mistake other people who have gone to prison others are yet to follow them,'' he said. He also attacked col. Kiiza Besigye arguing that the troubled Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and People's Front for Freedom (PFF) Parties founding President who he said his radicalism philosophy has led to the dwindling of his former party.
“ Col. Besigye betrayed our struggle for change due to his philosophy of radicalism which also caused the ruling party leaders to reply in the same manner,” Mao argued.
“My Democratic Party (DP) doesn't believe in violence, its our non negotiable trade mark,'' he said.
Mao also said that the struggle come out of abuse of power leading to human rights abuse and corruption and radicalism can't avert this, and dialogue is the only way that can bring change in leadership. The definition of change is not removing president Museveni from power now, but rather having a dialogue with him to change his mind-set he has built over 40 years as opposed to the radical pass like my opposition comrades are preferring to,” Mao reasoned.
He used the narrative to explain his point that other opposition political parties are using an axe to uproot Museveni and his NRM Party from leadership yet his DP is agitatinf for use of a ladder to cause change.
“ We should borrow a leaf from our neighbours, the DR. Congo and Burundi they have done it well and we should also copy a page to build a safe Uganda for all political parties, even the nruling party needs a safer Uganda,” chairman Mao reasoned.
He however condemned the brutal arrest of opposition political agitators says that its normal for people to have diverging political views and shouldn’t cause their abduction and unlawful prosecution.
