Uhuru Sworn in as Kampal Central Mayor Skips Speach

Kampala Central Division Mayor Salim Uhuru sworn in with his councillors at KCCA garden but he declined to give his speech as he was rushing to attend his party’s Central Executive Committee meeting that was due to seat at Entebbe State House.

The swearing in ceremony was administered by Buganda Road Court Magistrate Ritah Neumbe Kidasa and Uhuru was the first to be sworn in as opposed to the usual way in the pasted were the mayor coming last in the swearing in exercise.

This is the second term of office for him as mayor having prior served as councillor for Kisenyi II parish before he contested for the mayoral seat which he won in 2021.

Councillor Moses Kayigo who is representing Mengo Parish talked to this reported and said that this time round as division councillors they will agitate for power sharing between the Authority and the Division Urban Councils.

“ We are tired of having no powers; we can’t decide to do what our parishes need. This time we are going to be committed on agitating for power sharing if are to achieve our commitments,’’ Kayigo said.

He said that many people who were removed from streets are unemployed now and their children are no longer going to school therefore such people need to be planned for through expanding markets to create for them spaces where they can work from.
