Government Launch National Education and Training for Health Policy (2025)

In an effort to align education with health service delivery, government has organized a National Education and Training for Health Policy scheduled to commence on 28th April, 2026 at Nile Hotel, Jinja.       

According to the Commissioner in charge of Health Education and Training at the Ministry of Education and Sports, Dr. Safinah Kisu Museene, the training is aimed at strengthening the health system in Uganda through agitating for curriculum reforms, digital integration, advocacy for change and harmonizing quality assurance across all entities to ensure every graduate is fit for practice.

“ The workshop will help enhance skills, create opportunities, sharing of knowledge and advocating for changes that will lead to improvement in the quality of health services,’’ Dr. Museene explained.

Speaking to reporters on Friday at Uganda Media Centre, Kampala, Dr. Museene revealed that the three day event will host three main activities, Launch of the National Education and Training Health Policy (2025), Paper presentation by Dr. Charles Olaro, the Director General of Clinical Services at the Ministry of Health who will provide critical insights into aligning training with clinical excellence.

It is anchored on the Theme: “ Aligning Health Professionals’ Education and Training with Health System Needs for Sustainable and Responsive Health Service Delivery.’’

The event will also attract health and stake holder’s institutions that will showcase what they are doing through exhibition; skills competition for students from various institutions will also be conduction were at the end best performing competitors will be awarded with medals ranging from Bronze to Gold depending on performance. Competition participants will be drawn from the different medical institution specifically students taking medical courses.

The Minister of State in charge of Higher Education Dr. JC Muyingo is expected to officiate at the opening ceremony while the third Deputy Prime Minister Rt. Hon Lukia Nakadama will be launching the policy at the closing day. A total of over 500 participants including Academic Leaders, Students and Researchers, Regulators, Healthcare Administrators and Development Partners are expected to participate.
