The Kampala Metropolitan Police has conducted a series of disruptive operations across its policing areas, targeting criminal hideouts, black spots, and individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities.
In Kira Road Policing Area (Mulimira and Kyebando), an operation led by the Divisional Police Commander resulted in the arrest of 31 suspects, who are currently detained at Kira Road Police Division pending screening and fingerprinting.
At Ntinda, a patrol team intercepted suspected criminals in Kigowa. The suspects fled, abandoning dangerous weapons and housebreaking implements, including pangas, hammers, iron bars, sticks, and jerrycans containing suspected fuel. Two suspects were later arrested while hiding in a residential garage.
Preliminary findings indicate they were allegedly planning arson attacks linked to a land dispute. Investigations are ongoing.
In Nateete (Kanaala Zone), a suspect was arrested in possession of four suspected stolen motorcycles and multiple number plates. He remains in custody as verification of ownership with relevant authorities continues.
In Entebbe (Bunono and Guda), 31 suspects were arrested during operations targeting theft, burglary, and vandalism. The suspects have been charged and are pending court proceedings.
In Kasangati Division (Wampewo Ward, Gayaza, and Kijabijjo), operations led to the arrest of over 47 suspects from betting centres and known criminal hideouts.
Additionally, two suspects were arrested in Kijabijjo for operating an illegal garage used to dismantle suspected stolen motorcycles. Several motorcycle parts, number plates, and vandalized components were recovered.
Police note that some criminal elements are exploiting betting centres, unfinished buildings, and makeshift structures as hideouts. Ongoing operations are addressing these developments.
ll suspects remain in custody pending screening and subsequent court action where applicable. These operations have been successful, and Kampala Metropolitan Police will continue efforts to eliminate criminality and ensure public safety.
