The National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) FC shot stopper Hannington Ssewalunyo scoops April 2026 Real Stars Sports best footballer accolade courtesy of Fortebet and Jude Colour Solutions.
In a rear occasion, Ssewalunyo apart from keeping 5 clean sheets in April, he also managed to score 2 goals for his club in the Uganda Premier League.
The soft spoken shot-stopper has been instrumental in the team’s solid league run, featuring a long unbeaten streak and as many clean-sheets as indicated helping his side to be in the first five positions on the Uganda Premier League table.
He was awarded with Edwin Ekaru and Alex Atwirinda the best from Basketball and Rugby disciplines respectively for the same month at the Nanjing Restaurant and Motel in Kololo on Tuesday 5, 2026 the awards are accompanied with a brown envelope worth UGX 500,000.
Just after the award Ssewalunyo said that this was a motivation for him to work even harder such that in future he can attract a call to represent Uganda in the international tournaments.
“ I am really delighted to be recognised as Uganda Premier League player of the month of April, 2026. This wasn’t only my efforts but also for my coaches especially the goal keeper coach and my fellow players who ensured that I kept the so many clean sheets in those games as well as scoring goals at the same time,’’ Ssewalunyo said.
The Rugby winner, Alex Atwirinda said that the award means a lot in the world of sports and that he keep this as a historical moment and that in future he will be able to showcase to his children and grandchildren that he was a great sports athlete.
