The biggest badminton tournament in East Africa , the City Tyres East Africa badminton challenge is back with more than 100 trophies available for various winners.
The ninenth edition of the City Tyres East Africa badminton challenge was launched today , Thursday at Mandela group of companies head quarters at sixth street, industrial area .
According to Simon Mugabi, the CEO of Uganda badminton Association , this year’s edition will attract more participants compared to last edition which was 1118.
Mugabi, went on to say that the registration is on and will be closed on 12,October and it’s both online and hard copy.
Herbert Bashasha, on behalf of Mendela group of companies addressed the press that this year, Mendela group of companies have provide more than 100 trophies , tournament attires (T-shirts) plus prize money for the professionals.
This year’s edition will attract a special category which is the Chinese category where only Chinese will play each other like it has been all the years for the Indians category.
Among the categories to be competed include; Primary Schools in U-10, U-12 and U-15 ,Secondary Schools in U-19 and Seniors , Universities, Veterans, Indians, Chinese, Clubs, Coaches , Professionals and Corporates where only staff workers will be allowed to participate for their Companies.
This year’s edition will be a five day event which will start from Tuesday, 14 October to Sunday, 18 October and will be held at Lugogo indoor stadium.
Fadila Shamika, the African female badminton number one stated that she is ready for this big tournament and went on to thank Mendela group of companies for their contribution towards this tournament.
Kibuli SS, City Tyres, Mbogo Mixed and Ndejje University were some of the winners in the last edition.
