Two people perish in a fatal accident along Mubende- Fortpotral highway
On the 14/08/2026 at 20:25 hours, at Kagavu along Mubende Mityana road in Kalonga subcounty Mubende district, an ACTROS truck with tractor reg no UBK 132F and trailer reg no UBK 710J from Mubende heading to Mityana.
It’s driver lost control as it slopped down at Kagavu and moved into the opposite lane where it fell on an oncoming vehicle a NISSAN MURANO reg no UBD 063R .
Two people died on spot and four children were injured in the NISSAN MURANO vehicle.
After the accident the truck remained stationery on top of the NISSAN MURANO.
Mubende police under the command of DPC responded to the scene.
It required an aid of the effort of a crane to remove the trailer which rested on top of the NISSAN MURANO vehicle to access the victims and deceased.
And indeed after a concerted effort, the wreckage was accessed and the victims and two deceased were retrieved.
The victims were identified as :-
- Johana Bala aged 11.
- Isabella Rebecca aged 5 years.
- Gabriella Kawini aged 12.
- Dorothy aged 12.
One deceased was identified as Kaijuka Kenneth aged 45 years whereas the second male adult remained unidentified.
The victims were rushed to Mubende hospital in police Ambulance reg no UP 4906 whereas the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the mortuary of the same hospital.
Efforts are being made to tow the wreckage from the scene to the yard.
The road crash is suspected to have been caused by careless driving by the driver of the trailer truck.
