Four Police Constables arrested and charged for allegedly conniving with civilians in a case where they are accused of defrauding a businessman from Dubai in July 2025.
This follows a complain registered by the victim names withheld who is business man operating under the company registered in the name of Real Sunnex Limited who is allegedly was defrauded of USD 4,000,000 through fake gold transactions.
The four suspects are identified as PC Ayubu Kulutu, PC Razak Emorut, PC Benon Waiswa and PC Siraj Waiswa who were subjected to internal disciplinary proceedings before the Forces Disciplinary Court. The quartet were tried, convicted, and sentenced on 29 August, 2026 and are waiting officially to be dismissed from Police Forces.
Speaking to reporters at Naguru Police headquarters on 31st Monday,2026 CP Rusoke Kituuma the forces Spokesperson said upon engagement with the complainant, police established that the suspects were expecting to receive USD 4,000,000 from the businessman under fraudulent pretence.
Rusoke also revealed that acting on intelligence, the joint security teams laid a trap that led to the arrest of 16 other suspects, and among them the prime suspect, Asiimwe Moses while other are Mibenge Rogers, kiwanuka Edward, Kajubi Geofrey, Songole Thiery, Ajambo Bright, Mayuku Glody Mata, Nakahosa Soleina, Masaba William, walusimbi Joseph, Ampurire Anitah, Amani Patrick, Mugoya Christian, Kagarura Dicken, Leta Grace and Mbasa Taboma.
During the operation, security teams also recovered several exhibits, including suspected fake gold, incriminating documents, and eight (08) motor vehicles believed to have been used in facilitating the fraudulent exercise.
Investigations also revealed that the four (04) Police constables had abandoned their official duties and self-deployed to guard the suspects at an illegal gold refinery, where the fraudulent transactions were being facilitated.
These officers withdrew from their respective beats without authorization and self-deployed in support of the gold fraud syndicate, according to Rusoke this is a grave breach of police discipline and professional conduct.
The Police’s mouth piece said that the convicted officers, together with the other 12 suspects arrested in this operation, are being processed for criminal trial in the courts of law as soon as possible. Investigations into the wider syndicate, including any other accomplices and the recovery of the defrauded funds are still ongoing.
“We reassure the public of our unwavering commitment to fighting any form of misconduct within our ranks,’’ Rusoke said
“We also caution members of the public, particularly those engaged in the gold and precious minerals trade, to exercise due diligence and verify the legitimacy of dealers and refineries before entering into any transactions.’’
