The third edition of the Professor Emmanuel Mutebile Squash tournament which started on 13, April climaxed on Saturday,18, April at Kampala Club with winners walked away with cash prizes, medals and trophies in different categories.
The main tournament is to remember the work and support given to the Squash family by the late Professor Emmanuel Mutebile when he was the governor of the Bank of Uganda .
Uganda’s seed number one ,Paul Kasirye Kadoma and Kenyan female seed number one,Jane Njeri did it again to defend their trophies they won last year in second edition.
Kadoma,won Ivan Wasswa ,three games in the best of five games (11-9), (11-7), (11-7) to win his second in row title while Jane defeated Elizabeth Musiimenta three games in the best of five games (11-8) ,(11-5) ,(11-3) .
In the oldies categories ( 50 years and above), William Byaruhanga , the former attorney general won the category and walked away with a trophy.
In the Juniors category, Aron Isabirye came first while Semakula Osama came second and both were given trophies and medals.
Kadoma, went away with a cash prize of 1.5 million Shillings and Wasswa who was the runners up went away with one million Shillings in the male category.
While in the female category, Jane went away with 1.5 million Shillings while Elizabeth who was the runners up went away with 600,000 Shillings.
Doctor Musa Waiswa, executive director in Bank of Uganda who represented the governor of the Bank of Uganda,stated that the Bank will continue support this annual tournament.
Former Uganda seed number one, Michael Raymond Kawooya who was the event organizer thanked the Bank of Uganda for their support towards this tournament.
Kawooya,lost in the quarter finals and went away with a cash prize of 200,000 Shillings and a trophy.
