St Marys Kitende continue to show supremacy as it defends the USSSA Wakiso Zone Boys’ Football champions after a tense and dramatic victory over new entrant Kyadondo SS after a tense and dramatic second half.
In a game played on 70 minutes at WAKISSA play ground Kitende to take the lead in mid-first half through Jordan Tugume, in the second half Kyadondo mounted presser to find the equalizer but in vein. Kitende instead found the net again through Dennis Kisiriko to take control of the game.
Kyadondo didn’t give continued to mount the presser on the defending champion until they worn a penalty which was netted by… barely ten minutes to the final whistle.
After the final whistle, dailymailuganda.com interviewed the Headmaster of Kyadondo SS Ismail Waligo and he said that just reaching the finals of USSSA is a bonus because his school is a new entrant in the competition.
“ How boys where a bit tired because we were from Mbale just one week back where we worn the Uganda Muslim Sports Association boys’ football trophy.’’ Mr. Waligo said.
He further said, “ We hope we are going to gain more experience in the post primary slated for the next holiday in Jinja and we shall ride on that to challenge for the National Championship in the subsequent years’’.
Meanwhile in the earlier game, Rines SS had edged St. Noa Rines Secondary School in the post penalty shootout 3-1 after normal time ended 1-1 draw to be crowned the 2026 Wakiso Zone girls’ Champion. The long-awaited triumph was forged through resilience and composure under pressure, as Rines overturned a first-half deficit.
