The mountains for medicine riding which is usually organized every year in Uganda inorder to rise funds for Nia Davenport medical center in Kiwawu, Mityana road but this time was organized in Kenya because of the ebola pandemic which is in Uganda which didn’t allow the riders to compete.
The riders started riding on Saturday from Nairobi to Busia,Kenya which is over 460 kilometers and they used three days to reach Busia, Kenya.
The riders will continue with the same journey back to Nairobi which will take two days .
The riders who traveled all the way from USA ,are seven in numbers where one is female and the six are males .
The cause for this year’s riding competition,is to rise 300,000 US dollars to buy equipments, medicines in the Nia Davenport medical center which is located in Kiwawu, Mityana road.
When addressing the press, CEO of SOM, Robert Katende said the journey went smoothly and thanks to God who have enabled this to happen.
Pastor Francis Juma,who is the director of sports in Kenya, also thanked God who enabled them to accomplish the first journey when they are still alive.
Doctor Michael Nsimbi from Nia Davenport medical center in Kiwawu, thanked all those who have contributed to this cause inorder to save people’s lives .
