Hard works and discipline pays, those are the words of Kawempe Muslim Ladies’ Football Club captain Agnes Nabukenya after scooping the Fortebet Real Stars football award for August 2026.
Nabukenya a senior five student helped her club to qualify for Confederation of African Football (CAF) women champion’s league when she scored the lone goal in 100th minute in Kigali securing the first qualification ever for the CECAFA region.
Kawempe beat Kenya Police bullets in the finals at Pele Stadium in Kigali 1-0 becoming the first Uganda side to qualify for the prestigious tournament.
The victory also helped her coach Ayub Khalifa to win the life time achievers award having help the side qualify for the continental competitions.
“ I am delights and humbled to be recognized after twenty-five years in football. This is my first recognition and I don’t take it as a mini achievement,’’ Khalifa said.
“ I want to thank all those who supported and believed in us, since it has been always a turf journey, we scored many goals and conceded none,’’ he explained.
Meanwhile, Martina Onyango the Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Canons was the best female Basket ball player for August having helped her club wins the 9th league title. She was the MVP as she made 16 baskets.
In the men’s category, the Congolese National Frank Fataq who plays for NEM Blazers was the winner having helped his team beat their rivals City Oiliers to win the FUBA finals in Hoima City Stadium.
Resty Mbatudde the Fortebet market manager said that her company is committed to ensuring that best performing sports personalities get rewards for their hard efforts to shine.
