The Democratice forces and different political leaders from the various political parties have liked what is currently ocuring in the country to the past regimes especially that was headed by the late Idi Amin.
Following the arrest and detention of PPF president and an advoicate of the High Court Erias Lukwago, a group of political agitators who convened a press briefing at the Democratic Front (DF) new home along Makamba Road in Lungujja Parish, Rubaga Divison called on the Speaker of Parliament to intervene and constitution a committee to investigate the un lawful brutal arrest of political agitators espectially those on the opposition side.
The term this situation as an erosion of the rule of law, lawlessness, a growing political repression and the weaponization of the criminal justice system in Uganda thus also calling on President Museveni to act to avoid take the country back to the passed political anarchy.
The demanded for the immediate and unconditional release of all political detainees especially the PFF leader Erias Lukwago, Dr. Kizza Besigye, and all other detainees currently held in detention on politically motivated charges.
In the same vain they also demanded an end to what they called arbitrary arrests and weaponization of the criminal justice apparatus that has resulted into painful politically motivated prosecution against political, media and other actors, the immediate end to all unconstitutionjal involvement of the military in the arrest, detention, interroagation, of civillians, policing and other law enforcement roles beyond their constitutional mandate, the immediate repremand of all military and secutrity officials involved in the torture, physical and psychological abuse, inhuman and degrading treatment of citizens.
The Spokesperson of Justice Forum (JEEMA) Dr. Swaib. K Nsereko who also adressed the media said that course the military is taking cannot be sustained for the next 20 years, especially after President Museveni’s erra.
“ History is patient, and it keeps a full record, Each act of humiliation, each unlawful detention and boast of pain inflicted will be accounted for,” Dr. Nsereko said.
