Prime Nabbanja Vows to Deal with Lazy Ministers

Prime Minister Rt. Hon.  Robbinah Nabbaja vowed to deal with lazy ministers who fail to appear in Parliament when it comes to defending of government business at the floor of Parliament.

She made the remarks while welcoming new appointed minister in her office as well as seeing off those who have left her office at a function organized on Wednesday at the Prime Minister’s Premises.

“ My office allocates duties to the ministers so I am mandated to monitor their work in collaboration with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chief Whip. The tendency of absenting themselves from Parliament will not be tolerated in this term,’’ Rt. Hon. Nabbanja asserted

The warned the technical staffs that she said are failing government programs mostly because of laziness or through corruption tendencies.

Nabbanja also revealed to reporters that during the 2021-26 tenure government managed to achieve 88% of its committements for instance out of 809 manifesto committements, 699 where realized.

“ My key roles as Prime Minister is to ensure that the Presidential directives and cabinet decisions and programs, accountability and safe guarding the vulnerable are coordinated well,’’ she said.

She also said that her office sent back a whopping Shs. 69.9 billions to the consolidated fund and indication of failure to implement some of the intended activities.

Government is prioritizing this time three key sector that is Agro-Industrialization, Tourism and Mineral Development with investment in value addition in order to foster the ten (10) Fold Growth Strategy . This according to the Prime Minister will help Uganda to achieve a growth level from the current US Dollar 69.3 billion to US $ 500 billion.

In this term the Prime Minister said that she will also focus on ensuring that government programs are delivered well such that the masses receive much service with less government expenditures and value for money.

She will also ensure that government business in Parliament are brought on time and ensuring that Ministers attend Parliament to respond to issues raised by Members of Parliament.
