Minister Balaam okay Local Council Leaders to Continue Exercising thier Duties Until Election Done

As we prepare for Local Council elections that is yet to take place on July 28th, 2026, the Minister of Local Government Balaam Barugahare has argued voters to ignore voting individuals who are corrupt.

He said many Local Council leaders have miss used their powers and made ordinary people to suffer through loss of properties and Parish Development Model.

The Minister made the remarks while addressing reporters at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala on June 30th, 2026. He said that local council Chairperson have errant through signing documents fraudently giving a way people’s land as well as allocating PDM funds to their family members who have stubbornly refused to pay it back.

” It’s now time for us to get rid of errant Local Council leaders in the forthcoming election and vote for only those have integrity and haven’t swindled public funds in the passed.

Although the tenure of the current local councils expired on 28th this month, Minister Balaam Barugahare has okayed them to continue exercising their duties as elections  for the new office bearers is being prepared.
